Automation Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the company for a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in automation and a passion for driving process improvements through innovative technologies. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and productivity
Main Duties And Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include participation in Mine and when required Mill Electrical Installation & Maintenance work, project, preventative and corrective maintenance and technical/design work as directed and or/scheduled. Ensure 5S, housekeeping and cleaning of all own work areas. Ensure safety standards are maintained
While the company operates based on complete flexibility you may be required to do other duties from time to time as determined by your immediate supervisor.
Core Duties Include:
- In line with applicable procedures conduct all duties in a way that promotes Boliden’s values and best practice relating to environmental, health, safety and quality performance.
- Monitor and Control of Mine Operation Systems – PLC’s etc
- Role model Boliden’s core values always and can demonstrate use of core values to drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor and troubleshoot plant operations to determine maintenance requirements to maximise plant availability. Identify improvement areas and implement projects and solutions.
- Maintain compliance with certified Management Systems and regulatory permits.
- To supervise, direct and coach maintenance personnel as required.
- Develop and communicate maintenance documentation as required.
- Participate in budget development and cost control initiatives.
- Use, develop and promote mill maintenance systems, both physical and electronic.
- To compile, manage and maintain maintenance records and databases.

- Other duties may be determined by Electrical Team Leader
- Actively participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and/or practices
- Read and accept New Ways of Working and Mine Organisational changes detailed in “3. Final New Ways of Working – 24/04/2024” document agreed by Group of Unions and Boliden Tara Mines
Experience And Qualifications:
Applicants must have a 3rd level qualification in Electrical/Automation Engineering with at least 5 years’ experience of Mining or Heavy Industrial installations, and have the ability to work with, compliment and improve the Team and systems already in place. Familiarity with Tara Maximo, SolidWorks, Electrical and PLC Control systems would be beneficial.
Language:
Strong verbal and written and presenting skills in enabling effective communication across all levels of the organisation.
