As an Engineering Procurement Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the sourcing, procurement and delivery of complex, technical hardware. This includes creating purchase orders from purchase requisitions, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all necessary information, and adherence to the purchasing process checklist. You will also be responsible for working closely with vendors for qualification and monitoring of in-process orders. Responsibilities
- Own the RFQ and sourcing process for custom parts, collaborating with engineering and cross-functional teams to translate purchase requisitions into RFQs, evaluate supplier quotes, and convert approved selections into purchase orders.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; manage daily communications, request and evaluate quotes, and negotiate pricing, lead times, and basic contract terms to support cost, quality, and schedule goals.
- Serve as the liaison between Engineering and suppliers for all Xcimer-designed components.
- Track order status and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery; identify and resolve issues such as delays, quantity discrepancies, and documentation needs.
- Partner with Finance to resolve invoice variances, payment issues, and other procurement-related discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, lead-time updates, delivery commitments, and supplier information within internal systems.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of procurement or purchasing experience in a manufacturing or complex hardware environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or related field; equivalent relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials for custom components.
- Experience managing multiple RFQs and purchase orders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Experience using procurement systems, ERP/MRP tools, and Microsoft Office Suite to manage RFQs, purchase orders, and supplier data.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
- Proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage issues independently.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), orlawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee of granted asylum
Desired
- Experience working with complex integrated hardware, ideally in nuclear, aerospace, space systems, or similar industries.
- Experience leading supplier negotiations on pricing, lead times, and basic commercial terms.
- Experience performing should-cost analysis on supplier quotes.
- Experience working with quality requirements and supplier documentation packages.
