Responsibilities
Complete Building Services (CBS) is seeking an Electrician with a minimum of four (4) years of Journeyman-level experience, with a background in residential, commercial, or industrial electrical work, to join our team at the Washington, DC Unified Communications Center (UCC). The UCC receives and processes 911 emergency calls and the District’s 311 customer service calls. During major emergencies, the center serves as the District’s Emergency Operations Center (Mayor’s Command Center), providing a centralized location for multiple agencies to coordinate response efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation: Running conduit (piping), pulling wire, and installing electrical devices, circuit breakers, outlets, and lighting fixtures.
- Troubleshooting: Using diagnostic tools (like multimeters and voltmeters) to identify why a circuit is failing or why a motor has stopped working.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpreting technical drawings and schematics to understand the layout of a building's electrical system.
- Code Compliance: Ensuring all work meets strict safety standards to prevent fires or electrocution hazards.
- Maintenance: Performing routine electrical maintenance activities, inspecting and troubleshooting transformers, generators, and switchgear to ensure proper operation.
- Mentorship: Overseeing and training onsite facilities staff, ensuring they follow safety protocols and learn proper techniques.
- Technical: Proficiency with hand/power tools (conduit benders, wire strippers, drills) and testing devices.
- Pay Range: $40–$50 per hour, based on experience
- Work Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 Years as a Journeymen with electrical experience
- Experience installing electrical systems, including conduit, wiring, breakers, outlets, and lighting.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and voltmeters.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards.
- Experience performing routine electrical maintenance on transformers, generators, and switchgear.
- Proficient with common electrical hand and power tools and testing equipment.
- Valid Driver's license
