What’s the role?
The Senior Cyber Security Consultant acts as a trusted advisor to business and GroupTech units, providing expert guidance on information security for complex, enterprise-wide initiatives. This role ensures the protection of sensitive financial data and drives compliance with the Westpac Group Information Security Framework and regulatory requirements. By leading risk assessments, supporting strategic projects, and implementing robust security controls aligned with industry standards, the consultant strengthens organisational resilience against cyber threats and advances the bank’s overall security posture.
What do I need?
- Experience in information security, information technology, risk management, audit or equivalent role
- Experience managing a team of IT, security or operational risk professionals
- Good understanding of information security best practice standards and guidelines (e.g. ISO 27001)
- Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to information security
- Expertise in identity and access management (IAM), with a strong focus on Active Directory security and privileged access management (e.g., CyberArk, AD Entra).
- Proficient in vulnerability management and remediation, including hands-on experience with Tenable and other leading security tools.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, security gap analyses, and compliance reviews for complex enterprise environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, collaborating effectively across business, technology, and third-party partners.
- Proven leadership in mentoring and developing team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
