About the Role

Working in a fast paced, busy team your main role will be to support Lawyers with both Child Protection and Adults Safeguarding work, including PLO pre-proceedings, Care Proceedings and Court of Protection cases.  You will also handle private law cases where the Court requires information from the Local Authority.  This work includes taking statements, obtaining evidence and disclosure from other agencies, assisting with the instruction of experts and Counsel, liaising with clients, the court and other parties, drafting legal documents, and occasional attendance of meetings such as PLO family meetings and round table meetings.  The sensitive and confidential nature of the work means that a flexible and tactful approach is essential to this role.  In conjunction with the team and the relevant stakeholders, it will be your job to represent the Council appropriately in relation to the above matters. 

 

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

·         A basic knowledge of Family Court, Court of Protection and Civil Court Procedures.

·         Experience of dealing with the preparation of cases for the Family Court, Court of Protection and Civil Courts to include the preparation of witness statements, court papers and court bundles.

·         Familiarity with legal procedures and protocols and court systems

·         Ability to be sensitive to the nature of the work undertaken and to ensure client confidentiality
