Job Profile Summary:
As an Associate Scrum Master, you’ll support IT teams in delivering high-quality technology solutions using Agile methodologies. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with a foundational understanding of Scrum who are eager to grow into a full Scrum Master position. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove blockers, and ensure smooth sprint execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in facilitating Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Support the Scrum Master in managing sprint backlogs and tracking team progress using tools like Jira.
Help identify and remove impediments to ensure team productivity and delivery.
Promote Agile principles and foster a culture of continuous improvement within IT teams.
Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, business analysts, and product owners to ensure alignment on sprint goals.
Maintain Agile artifacts and ensure transparency of team progress to stakeholders.
Monitor sprint metrics (velocity, burndown charts, etc.) and assist in reporting.
Participate in Agile training and coaching sessions to enhance team maturity.
Qualifications:
First or second level ScrumMaster certification (CSM, PSM I, II).
Experience in the ScrumMaster role for at least two years in a tech shop environment.
A solid baseline of tech literacy is expected; hands-on experience at coding/software development will be preferred.
Solid knowledge and understanding of Scrum terminology: servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increased transparency.
Demonstrated ability to apply common sense to "intentional gaps" in the framework.
Some understanding of DevOps and cloud concepts including CI/CD, auto-scaling, automated and manual testing methodologies, pairing, etc.
Experience with project management software and diagramming tools.
Working knowledge of non-Scrum Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
Some experience as a team lead will be preferred.
Excellent communications skills – written, verbal and visual.
High energy and solid work ethic, with motivational and leadership qualities.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
At least 2 years’ experience in and around data analytics and engineering
