We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor to join the Heartland Bank Australia team based in Melbourne, Australia.

You will play a pivotal role in strengthening governance, elevating risk management, and shaping the future of how we deliver assurance across a diverse and expanding portfolio at Heartland Bank Australia (HBAL).

You are an outcome‑focused auditor who communicates clearly (written and verbal), builds trusted relationships, thinks critically, and enjoys exploring issues deeply to uncover insights that drive better decisions and processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Strengthen the Internal Audit brand by fostering a collaborative, forward‑thinking culture.
- Leading and executing risk‑based audits, regulatory reviews, project assurance, and investigations.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, from senior leaders to emerging managers.
- Produce high‑quality work papers, analysis, and reporting that influence better decision‑making.
- Present audit outcomes confidently, ensuring observations are well‑understood and actioned.
- Offer trusted advice grounded in strong business acumen, risk expertise, and a deep understanding of our operating environment.
You’re a pro with:
- Risk‑based audit methodologies, planning and scoping.
- APRA standards and Australian banking regulations (e.g., CPS 220, CPS 230, CPS 234, APS 220).
- Stakeholder engagement across varied groups and seniority levels.
- Excellent communication both written and verbal
- Analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and challenging constructively.
Qualifications/Certifications
- 3+ years’ audit or assurance experience
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or Finance (highly regarded).
- Strong understanding of the Australian banking/financial services landscape and its regulatory environment (e.g., CPS 220, CPS 230, CPS 234, APS 220)
