What’s the role?

An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Network Engineer to join the infrastructure team within Group Technology. In this role, you will take technical ownership of critical network services across the organisation, ensuring resilient, secure, and high‑performing connectivity for all business areas of the bank.

You will work closely with fellow Senior Service engineers and the Secure Network Services (SNS) group to deliver proactive service management, minimise downtime, enhance network reliability, and strengthen overall security posture. As a technical leader, you will guide the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise network solutions.

This position requires strong collaboration with key stakeholders across Group Technology to ensure effective execution of ITIL‑aligned processes—including Incident, Change, Problem Management, Service Catalogue maintenance, and CVE‑based Vulnerability Management. You will play a key role in overseeing complex escalations, driving root cause analysis, and ensuring operational excellence.

Additionally, you will be responsible for producing and presenting detailed reporting on SLA/KPI performance, network stability, and customer satisfaction, while offering actionable insights to support continuous service improvement across our network ecosystem.

What do I need?

Essential:

• At least 5 years supporting complex networks within large organizations.
• Extensive experience working in complex enterprise network environments. 
• Strong technical capability with F5 GTM/LTM for advanced load‑balancing and traffic management. 
• Expertise in enterprise firewall technologies and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS).
• Hands-on knowledge of Juniper SRX and Fortinet FortiGate, including IPS tuning, policy optimisation, and performance refinement. 

Desirable:

• Skilled in automation and scripting to enhance network telemetry, streamline operations, and support orchestration platforms. 
• Demonstrate ability to combine deep technical skills with automation to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient network solutions. 
• Knowledgeable with enterprise networking tools (SolarWinds, Elastic, Grafana, Splunk and MongoDB) 
• Familiarity with ITIL processes—especially change management—and ServiceNow.
• Proven background in developing automation solutions that interface with various tools and platforms via APIs or scripting.
• Experience working with MongoDB, Jenkins, Terraform, SolarWinds, and Elastic.
• Knowledgeable in Python, specifically for automation and scripting tasks.
• experience using Ansible, as well as CI/CD technologies such as Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions. 
• Relevant vendor certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or F5 201.
