Sr Cloud Architect / Administrator
Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position:
- The Cloud Architect / Administrator designs, implements, secures, and manages cloud-based architectures that support enterprise modernization and digital transformation efforts under the Enterprise Transformation Integration (ETI) program. On a typical day, this role provides technical leadership and hands-on support to ensure cloud solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with mission and business objectives.
- Daily responsibilities include designing and maintaining cloud environments; supporting migration, integration, and optimization of enterprise applications and data; and administering cloud infrastructure across development, test, and production environments. The individual ensures compliance with DoD, Army, and Federal cybersecurity requirements, including RMF and applicable security controls.
- Additional activities include managing cloud configurations, access controls, and monitoring tools; implementing automation, backup, and disaster recovery solutions; tracking cloud performance, availability, and cost metrics; and supporting interface and data integration across enterprise systems. The role also develops and reviews cloud-related technical documentation, architectures, and standards, and collaborates closely with systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, developers, and program managers to support integration and sustainment activities.
Requirements (Years of experience, Education, Certifications):
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, implementing, or administering cloud-based systems within a DoD, Federal, or large enterprise environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Secret Clearance
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Cloud architecture and administration (e.g., AWS, Azure, or similar platforms)
- Cloud migration and system integration
- Identity and access management
- Monitoring, logging, and performance management
- Cloud security and compliance support
Nice to Have (skills that are not required, but nice to have):
- Experience supporting enterprise transformation or digital modernization initiatives
- Familiarity with:
- DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- NIST, RMF, and Federal cloud security requirements
- Cloud-related certifications, including:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect
- Cloud Security certifications
