About This Opportunity

Join our team to manage and support diverse projects within the Human Studies Unit (HSU). You will work closely with the Human Studies Manager, Principal Investigators, and collaborators to oversee participant recruitment and consent, sample collection, and study logistics. This role also involves generating high-quality data for analysis and reporting, coordinating research activities, and ensuring smooth study implementation.

We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and experience in data management and analytics. If you are motivated and ready to make a difference, we would love to hear from you!

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support project coordination activities, including updating timelines, tracking progress, and maintaining clear documentation with version control.

  • Assist with human ethics submissions and approval processes.

  • Coordinate the schedule of project activities and provide administrative support, including preparing meeting minutes.

  • Oversee biological sample collection, tracking, management, and dispatch, and prepare sampling kits with associated documentation.

  • Manage participant recruitment and consent, administer phone interviews, send questionnaires, track responses, and oversee accurate data entry.

  • Maintain and refine project/study databases in collaboration with programmers, perform data cleaning, and ensure high-quality datasets for analysis.

  • Conduct data analysis using statistical software, prepare reports for governance requirements and annual reporting, and gather information for special and recurring reports.

  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, represent the project/HSU at meetings or events, and assist in developing research materials such as questionnaires and data collection instruments.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position trough to December 2026 at HEW Level 5.

About You

  • Undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences or Psychology, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Experience conducting research in a healthcare or clinical setting.

  • Strong understanding of ethical and governance requirements for managing human research projects under Australian guidelines; knowledge of international governance is an advantage.

  • Proven ability to produce high-quality data through accurate data collection and cleaning.

  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary research team, with the ability to work independently.

  • Proficiency in a range of computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EndNote) or ability to quickly learn new systems.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with research participants by phone, email, or in person.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, exercise initiative and judgment, and work effectively in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
