Cloud Architect - CSS Delivery Japan

As part of Oracle Customer Success Services (CSS), Senior Principal Cloud Architect leads and owns the architecture and delivery of enterprise cloud environments on OCI, engaging with customers from Day 1 design through Day 2 operations
 

<Role & Responsibilities>

• Act as a trusted advisor to CSS customers by providing expert guidance on cloud adoption, migration, and optimization strategies across Oracle private, public, and multi-cloud environments.
• Assess customer requirements, design cloud architectures aligned with Oracle best practices, and ensure that solutions meet business and technical objectives.
• Lead the design, deployment, and migration of on-premises workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including hybrid and multi-cloud integrations.
• Collaborate closely with customer technical teams, project managers, and regional/global stakeholders to deliver high-quality service engagements.
• Provide technical leadership during engagements, including solution architecture design, validation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Consult with customers to understand their business and technical requirements and translate them into appropriate cloud architectures and solutions.
• Plan and lead customer-facing technical workshops to drive alignment, decision-making, and successful solution design.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of service delivery methodologies, best practices, and reusable assets based on field experience and Oracle standards.
• Support information security operations by designing secure, compliant cloud environments.
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, Oracle product updates, and industry best practices, and share knowledge across the team.
• Support other CSS team, fostering knowledge sharing and skills development within the team.

<Required Skills & Experience>

• 7+ years of experience designing and delivering cloud infrastructure (IaaS / PaaS) for enterprise customers, leading cloud infrastructure design (including compute, storage, and networking) for production environments.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience leading cloud migration initiatives, including on-premises to cloud or cloud-to-cloud migration, within enterprise environments, including hybrid on-premises and cloud architectures.
• Native-level Japanese and business-level English for communication with global teams.

<Preferred Skills & Experience>

• Experience designing high availability and disaster recovery architectures in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Experience with cloud security design, particularly network security and access control.
• Experience with cloud monitoring, observability, or operational readiness for production environments.
• Experience working with enterprise database platforms in cloud or hybrid environments, focusing on connectivity design, availability, and migration support rather than database development.
• Experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting network connectivity for mission-critical workloads, including availability, performance, and failure scenarios.
• Experience with infrastructure automation or Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
