JOB SUMMARY
As a Systems Engineer II, you will design, develop, and implement systems infrastructure, including hardware and software. You will support and maintain the organization’s environment while also managing special projects related to new technology implementations.
JOB DUTIES
- Apply advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills while following security best practices, access controls, and all applicable legal, regulatory, and organizational policies
- Maintain the skills and knowledge needed to coordinate workflow, prioritize and multitask effectively, and deliver high-quality customer service through clear written and verbal communication
- Establish, configure, test, maintain, and monitor operating systems, servers, networking, application software, and system management tools
- Manage server patching schedules, vulnerability remediation, software license assignment, and mobile device management (MDM) platforms
- Monitor system and network performance, identify and resolve infrastructure alerts, and provide resource allocation recommendations to the Infrastructure Manager
- Plan and implement system automation and efficiency improvements, including cost analysis procedures
- Promptly respond to and resolve incidents and service requests within agreed-upon timeframes
- Create, maintain, and standardize technical documentation, processes, and procedures
- Monitor project deliverables and ensure timely completion of assigned initiatives
- Support professional development through peer mentoring and training in clear, non-technical language
- Participate in on-call rotation, perform after-hours work for system upgrades or outages, and travel up to 10 percent to remote offices, data centers, and headquarters in Missoula, Montana
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years IT Systems Engineering experience in a Microsoft environment
- Bachelor’ Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
- Relevant certification required (AZ-104, AZ-800, MCSE, MCSA, MS-102) or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Demonstrated intermediate level knowledge in the Microsoft family of products including: Windows Operating Systems, Office 365, Intune, Azure, Powershell, Entra ID
- Experience with virtual networks, storage, IAM, virtual machine and host management, hybrid infrastructure
- Experience using cloud managed network devices such as Cisco Meraki
- Be able to successfully pass a background screening
The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
