Role Overview
This is a senior developer role with architectural responsibilities. You will:
- Write, deploy, and maintain production-grade backend code
- Shape the architecture of distributed systems that prioritize consistency, resilience, and low-latency processing
- Solve for reliability and scalability in a real-world, high-integrity transaction environment
- Participate in operating and improving our system in production
- Collaborate closely with teammates to make pragmatic, forward-looking decisions
- Work closely with stakeholders across product, infrastructure, and operations
About the Team
We build and operate the backend that routes payment transactions — a critical link between terminals and the wider payment infrastructure. We take its reliability and security seriously, because when it fails, payments don’t go through. That responsibility shapes how we work: as a small, experienced team focused on reliability, simplicity, and real-world impact. We operate with a high degree of autonomy—empowering you to take ownership, experiment, and grow your expertise over time. The payment domain is deep and nuanced, offering plenty of opportunities to expand your technical and domain knowledge as you go. We maintain a steady pace and protect time for deep, focused work. We support a healthy work-life balance and trust people to manage their time responsibly. This role is based in Espoo, Finland and follows a hybrid model. Candidates should be located within commuting distance of the office. What You BringWe’re looking for someone who’s curious, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative. You enjoy working with others, sharing knowledge, and taking ownership of your work — and you'll find a team that values the same.Our stack includes: TypeScript, Rust, Python, AWS (with a focus on serverless), MySQL, DynamoDB, Containers, LinuxYou don’t need to already know everything — we value strong fundamentals, a willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt quickly. Many of us have picked up parts of the stack along the way, and we’ll support you in doing the same.
