Vehicle System Cybersecurity Test Engineer

Stellantis.com

Auburn Hills, MI, United States

Full Time

We are seeking a System Integration engineer with focus on cybersecurity testing to contribute to the system integration and testing activities for the next generation vehicle controller and software platform. This new architecture will integrate new and advanced software functions for cloud connectivity and edge processing, thus enabling highly automated driving and advanced connectivity features. The individual should be an experienced engineer in system integration and testing, specializing in cyber security testing and having a strong technical background in systems engineering and vehicle architecture development.

The primary focus will be to integrate the system of ECUs on a system bench and ensure that the software running on all ECUs function without vulnerabilities. The process starts with flashing the software of the involved ECUs, and then running a suite of tests that verifies the communication (Ethernet, CAN, and LIN), assess the stability of the software under stress, and tests cybersecurity features. The responsibilities mainly involve identifying vulnerabilities through methods like vulnerability scanning and penetration testing, evaluating system weaknesses via risk assessments and audits, and actively monitoring networks and user behavior for cybersecurity threats. These activities involve a cycle of testing, analyzing results, and implementing remediation to improve overall security posture.

The job also entails reviewing relevant requirements, developing test cases using Python and CAPL scripting (among others), automating the execution of the test cases on CI pipelines, and analyzing the results. The role demands close alignment and interaction with SW design and architecture teams, in addition to cybersecurity experts.

We are looking for a highly motivated integration engineer who is deeply skilled in cybersecurity testing and who will work side by side with development engineers from the early design phase until system validation. This starts at day one by not only integrating early implementations and requirement models, but challenging design and logical architecture in the earliest phase and with a focus to always strive for a great end-to-end system experience.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering/vehicle network development and industrialization, minimally on a sub-system domain level including a minimum of 2 years in cybersecurity requirements-driven and penetration testing
  • Solid technical knowledge of E/E architecture and vehicle networks, their functions and features, solid understanding of LIN (ISO 17987-1) and CAN (ISO 11898-1) networks
  • Basic knowledge of Ethernet network (OA TC8) and SOME/IP protocol
  • Good understanding of automotive testing standards for distributed systems (e.g., ISTQB Certified Tester)
  • Basic knowledge of agile test methods, tools and automation (proven working knowledge with Doors Next Generation, IBM RTC, Jira)
  • Experience with in coding (e.g., Python, CAPL, C, C++)
