Company Description
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller across a cluster of properties.
This is a key leadership role within the Finance team, responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the hotels, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reporting, controls, and compliance. You will work closely with operational leaders across the cluster to drive profitability, efficiency, and performance.
This role is based in Queenstown, at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside, and will provide exposure to multiple brands and operational teams across the region. Preferable start date for the role is mid April 2026.
Job Description
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a hands-on role in managing financial operations, ensuring strong internal controls, accurate reporting, and effective cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee daily finance operations including AP, AR, payroll, cash handling and cash flow
· Ensure ledgers, controls and Accor finance policies are fully compliant
· Manage debtors, credit approvals, collections and Owner payments
· Prepare weekly, monthly and annual financial reports, including operating statements, forecasts and wage analysis
· Assist with budgets, forecasts, year-end accounts and audits
· Partner with Department Heads to drive cost efficiencies and profitability
· Liaise with regional finance teams, owners, suppliers and auditors
· Oversee insurance, night audit processes and revenue integrity
· Act as Finance Controller in their absence
Qualifications
- Proven experience in hotel finance, ideally within multi-property or multi-entity environments
- A collaborative team player who actively contributes, uses initiative and supports colleagues
- Strong understanding of hospitality finance operations, controls and reporting
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Commercially minded with the ability to partner with operational leaders to drive financial performance
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with teams, owners, and external stakeholders
