Position Overview
As a Machine Tool Engineer Intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers to support the design, improvement, and documentation of specialized machine tools. This role provides hands-on exposure to mechanical engineering concepts, industrial applications, and real-world problem-solving in a supportive environment.
Hours & Compensation
- Schedule: Flexible Monday–Friday hours to accommodate academic commitments
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience and academic level)
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in defining the scope and requirements of machine tool design projects
· Support creation of manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
· Participate in reviewing and selecting mechanical and machine components
· Join in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and project meetings
· Help prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
· Document design processes, updates, and engineering solutions
· Collaborate with machinists, technicians, and subject matter experts on engineering tasks
· Reverse engineer existing equipment by mechanically measuring components and modeling legacy drawings
· Catalog parts according to company standard naming conventions and database requirements
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities
- Problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn
