Industrial Electrician

Downer New Zealand Limited is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join our Electrical Team in the Tasman region, reporting to the Electrical Foreperson and Supervisor.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is keen, motivated and eager to learn, particularly in automation, PLC and SCADA-based systems. You’ll work as part of a skilled team delivering pro-active and reactive maintenance, fault response and renewal works across the 3 Waters networks.

You’ll be involved in maintaining and repairing both new and existing electrical and automation installations, responding to network faults and customer service requests, and ensuring all work meets contractual, client and safety requirements.

Participation in the after-hours on-call roster is required (approximately 1 in 4 weeks), with support from the wider Electrical Team.

This role suits someone who is newly qualified or building experience and wants to develop their skills in an industrial environment.

You’ll bring:

• A recognised electrical qualification – or near completion 
• EWRB registration with a current practising licence
• A minimum Class 1 driver’s licence
• An interest in industrial electrical and automation systems
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
• Basic computer literacy for timesheets, job records and reporting
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and improve

Experience with PLC, SCADA or automation is advantageous but not essential
