Who are we looking for?
Our Northeast Engineering Design Organization is looking for a Senior Instrumentation & Controls/Automation Engineer to join their team in our Buffalo, NY office. In this role, you will play a crucial role in helping clients innovate and transform their operations in the municipal and industrial sectors. This position involves collaborating with clients to deliver modern plant automation services, including PLC and SCADA control system design, programming, configuration, and cybersecurity. You will contribute to strategic planning and thought leadership while working on complex projects that drive positive change in communities

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Technical Troubleshooting: Manage technical troubleshooting projects, ensuring effective diagnosis of technical issues with equipment and experiments and the development of effective solutions.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Testing: Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards.
- Project Management: Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.
- Engineering Drawings: Create complex engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
- Equipment Installation: Lead major equipment rebuilds; guide planned installation of complex systems.
- Process Design Engineering: Analyze information and specify the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
- Engineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
What you’ll bring to the team:
- Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- PE license a plus
- Minimum of 15 years of automation & control systems experience
- Understanding of and experience in the development of SCADA systems, Databases and Analytics
- Proficiency in Allen-Bradley automation platforms, other manufacturers a plus
- Knowledgeable about the latest Industrial Automation Hardware, Software, Communications, Cybersecurity, and IoT devices and platforms
- Background/Experience in Instrumentation and Controls design
- Strong system integration experience

Salary Range: $94,100 - $157,000 based on experience and location.
