Product Owner – Data Solutions - FAST- Life Insurance Solutions
Verisk.com
Office
Jersey City, NJ, United States
Full Time
Verisk is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Product Owner to help build out and lead a new line of next-generation data products for the life and annuity market. This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge data science, software engineering, and the life insurance industry.
As the Product Owner, you will be the bridge between customer needs and technical execution. Leveraging Verisk’s data assets and analytics expertise – capabilities that have transformed the P&C Industry – you will identify opportunities to bring similar value to the life and annuity market. You will translate market needs into a clear product vision and manage a high-velocity development backlog to bring that vision to life.
- Product Discovery: Collaborate with carriers, distributors and internal stakeholders to identify pain points and validate demand for new data products (e.g., distribution analytics, predictive underwriting models, automated policy administration tools, fraud detection, data verification services, etc).
- Backlog Management: Own, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog. You will translate complex requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria for our engineering teams.
- Strategic Roadmap: Define the "what" and the "why" behind product features, ensuring the development team is always working on the items with the highest business impact. Partner with leadership to define go-to-market strategy and pricing models for new data products.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary point of contact for product progress, providing transparency to leadership, adhering to acceptable-use data policies, and ensuring the final product meets the specific regulatory and technical needs of the life insurance sector.
- Release Management: Work closely with developers from initial concept and data modeling to production release and post-launch iteration. Engage with Sales and Delivery teams to ensure smooth delivery to the customer
- Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in an Agile environment. Experience launching new products preferred.
- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the Life and Annuity industry (e.g., underwriting processes, agent/producer sales approaches, policy life cycles, claims, etc.).
- Data Literacy: Proven experience delivering data-oriented software products. You should be comfortable discussing APIs, data pipelines, machine learning concepts, and data visualization.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to "translate" between business and technical stakeholders.
- Technical Savvy: Experience with Jira, or similar project management tools, and a solid understanding of the software development life cycle. Experience with tools like ThoughtSpot is a huge plus
