Quantitative Analyst (one position)

Location:  Stamford, Connecticut, USA

Full time40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Domestic travel may be required up to 5%.

International travel may be required up to 5%.

Working in Proprietary Trading

Statkraft trades energy products in more than 20 countries and is active on 13 energy exchanges. Proprietary trading takes place mainly from trading rooms in Oslo, Düsseldorf, London and the Unites States. Statkraft trades power, natural gas, carbon certificates, dry bulk products, metals, oil and petroleum products in the global markets.

Job Description

  • Work as a member of the proprietary trading business to serve the micro-structure of the power, natural gas, and other energy-related markets in North America by applying mathematical, statistical, and machine learning techniques to address practical issues in finance.
  • Apply financial analytical skills to structure complex problems, model power markets, and make profitable trading decisions.
  • Execute quantitative trade strategies to develop broader discretionary trade views.
  • Leverage analytical techniques to derive trade idea generation.
  • Apply coding, automation, and analytics capabilities to help predict portfolio positions and gain edge.
  • Assume ownership of risk related to development of platforms for Energy Commodities trading.
  • Work with and add to a data lake of timeseries with sub-hourly frequencies, textual data for various service operators in North America.
  • Scrape, store, clean, and analyze datasets

Qualifications

  1. Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Financial Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor’s, progressive related work experience; OR a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Financial Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, and 1 year of related work experience.
  2. Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience with the following:
  • Using statistical methods and machine learning techniques to support trading decisions;
  • Applying mathematical concepts, including Linear Algebra, Probability, and Statistics;
  • Writing scalable code using Python, SQL, Bash scripting, and GitLab;
  • Utilizing Coder, Argo, or Kubernetes platforms to automate tasks and build analytics;
  • Developing trading strategies within the energy commodity proprietary trading environment
