Senior Product Designer - Card Production Suite
Location: New York & Remote
Department: Product Design – Fanatics Collectibles Technology
Reports To: Staff Product Designer
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to help build and scale these internal platforms.
You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to turn operational challenges into clear and usable systems. This role requires strong systems thinking, prototyping, interaction design, and the ability to build trust across teams who rely on our tools every day.
You’ll thrive in this role if you’re detail-oriented and comfortable navigating layered workflows with enterprise data architecture. You’ve led projects end-to-end and can operate independently without heavy direction.
What You’ll Work On
You’ll design and ship the internal systems and infrastructure that power how trading cards are created — from early product planning through manufacturing.
Your work will enable teams to:
- Launch flagship products that drive tens of millions in revenue
- Translate creative concepts into structured, production-ready outputs at scale
- Manage thousands of assets, configurations, and data points with clarity and control
- Reduce errors, rework, and manual effort across a complex production lifecycle
- Streamline workflows across creative, editorial, and manufacturing teams
- Introduce automation and AI into traditionally manual processes
For example, you might design systems that take a new MLB or UEFA release from concept to print — coordinating thousands of data objects and assets, ensuring accuracy across every card, and delivering files directly into production.
These systems sit at the core of the business, used daily by the teams responsible for bringing products to market.
What You’ll Do
Lead Platform Initiatives
- Own end-to-end design for internal workflow systems, from discovery through production.
- Translate operational problems into clear, structured solutions.
- Design scalable interaction models for data-dense, state-heavy environments.
- Reduce rework, errors, and cycle time through thoughtful system design.
Design for Real-World Production Environments
- Craft clear, usable interfaces for users operating in creative and manufacturing ecosystems.
- Model multi-step workflows, validation logic, system states, and edge cases.
- Partner closely with engineering to ensure designs reflect real system behavior and constraints.
- Balance usability, technical feasibility, and business priorities in high-impact tools
Strengthen Systems & Standards
- Establish patterns for data presentation, configuration interfaces, and workflow states.
- Contribute to and evolve our internal design system.
- Design structured interfaces that reduce cognitive load.
- Drive consistency across workstreams through documentation and example-setting.
- Uphold accessibility and usability standards.
Operate with High Ownership
- Run projects independently, maintaining velocity without sacrificing clarity or craft.
- Collaborate deeply with Product to shape solutions and influence direction.
- Communicate design rationale clearly and navigate trade-offs effectively.
- Mentor junior designers and elevate the team through feedback and example.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 5–8+ years of product design experience shipping production-grade software.
- Experience designing internal tools, enterprise software, workflow systems, or operational platforms.
- Strong systems thinking — comfortable modeling state, dependencies, and edge cases.
- Ability to design data-heavy interfaces with clarity and hierarchy.
- Fluency in Figma (components, auto-layout, variants, prototyping).
- Strong prototyping skills — able to create interactive prototypes to validate workflows, test edge cases, and communicate system behavior.
- Sound product judgment — you know when a lightweight wireframe is enough, when a high-fidelity prototype will accelerate alignment, and when additional process adds more overhead than value.
- Experience working closely with engineers in fast-paced environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort operating independently without heavy direction.
Nice to Have
- Experience collaborating with highly technical PMs.
- Exposure to creative production ecosystems (Adobe workflows, DAMs, editorial or manufacturing systems).
- Experience designing automation or AI-assisted tooling.
- Experience incorporating AI into design workflows or building AI-enabled product experiences.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, you’ll quickly become a force multiplier for the team. Within your first several months, you’ll:
- Unblock engineers by providing clear, actionable design direction
- Establish scalable UX patterns that support complex, evolving workflows
- Bring structure to ambiguous systems, making them easier for teams to understand and operate
- Reduce rework and confusion across production flows
- Help raise the bar for design quality and consistency across the team
- Contribute to a culture where design is a high-leverage partner to Product and Engineering
Traits That Will Make You Successful
- You enjoy designing for operational systems
- You’re energized by 0→1 platform work
- You move quickly and adapt when plans change
- You don’t wait for perfect requirements
- You take ownership and follow through
