UI/UX Designer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented UI/UX Designer to audit, improve, and redesign an existing WordPress website. This is not a full website rebuild. Instead, you will evaluate the current user experience, identify pain points, and create modern, user-friendly designs that improve navigation, usability, and conversion opportunities while working within the site's existing infrastructure.

You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and developers to deliver practical design solutions that can be efficiently implemented.

Key Responsibilities

UX Audit

• Conduct a comprehensive UX audit of the existing website across desktop and mobile devices.

• Identify usability issues, broken user journeys, confusing navigation, poor information architecture, cluttered layouts, and missed conversion opportunities.

• Analyze website performance from a user experience perspective and recommend improvements.

• Benchmark the website against industry-leading design examples and provided references.

• Deliver a structured UX audit report with prioritized recommendations, including quick wins and long-term improvements.

• Review and optimize navigation flows and user pathways.

UI Design & Website Reskin

• Create updated page layouts and UI components that enhance the existing website experience.

• Develop wireframes and high-fidelity mockups using Figma.

• Design key website pages, including:

  • Homepage

  • Landing pages

  • Search results pages

  • Profile pages

  • Contact pages

• Apply clean, modern design principles with strong attention to typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy.

• Ensure all designs are mobile-first, responsive, and accessibility-conscious.

• Design solutions that align with existing WordPress and platform constraints.

Developer Handoff & Quality Assurance

• Prepare organized and developer-friendly Figma files, components, and documentation.

• Collaborate with developers during implementation.

• Review completed pages and ensure they accurately reflect approved designs.

• Identify and communicate any discrepancies or improvements during implementation.

Reporting & Collaboration

• Provide regular progress updates on audits, designs, and project milestones.

• Participate in team meetings and design discussions.

• Clearly explain design decisions and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

• Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing website audits, redesigns, and user-centered design projects.

• Advanced proficiency in Figma, including wireframing, prototyping, component libraries, and developer handoff.

• Strong understanding of:

  • User Experience (UX)

  • Information Architecture

  • Mobile-First Design

  • Accessibility Best Practices

• Experience improving and redesigning existing websites rather than building from scratch.

• Excellent visual design skills with a strong eye for typography, spacing, and layout consistency.

• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred

• Experience working with real estate, franchise, or multi-location businesses.

• Familiarity with WordPress website environments.

• Basic understanding of SEO principles and their relationship to UX.

• Experience building and maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries.
