What You’ll Accomplish:
- Design and build advanced test rigs for electrical and mechanical characterization of quantum devices
- Develop meticulous test plans and protocols for validating device performance
- Conduct experimental validation and characterization of electronics systems to meet stringent performance requirements for quantum hardware
- Collaborate with device designers and electronics engineers to improve test coverage and ensure compatibility with emerging quantum chip architectures
- Critically evaluate testing methodologies and propose improvements for efficiency and accuracy
- Document test procedures, results, and findings for reproducibility and knowledge sharing
Requirements
The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates:
- Strong electronics capabilities for PCB design and configuring test equipment for automated device testing
- Mechanical design skills to create precision test rigs
- Business-level Japanese and English communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical concepts, and ensure testing requirements are understood, implemented, and continuously improved.
Must-have Skills:
- PCB layout and schematic design using ECAD tools (e.g., Altium)
- Mechanical CAD proficiency for fixture and rig design
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Familiarity with test/electronics equipment (multiplexers, VNA, TDR, oscilloscopes)
- Experience measuring high-frequency electrical signals and ensuring signal integrity
- Knowledge of embedded systems and FPGA-based control for automated testing
- Master/BSc Degree in electronics engineering or a related discipline
Nice-to-have Skills:
- Experience cryogenic temperatures and testing sensitive quantum devices
- Background in RF engineering, metrology, or instrumentation
- Experience developing automated testing frameworks using scripting languages (Python, MATLAB)
