Job Description
We are looking for a Middle+ Data Scientist with 3+ years of professional experience, including hands-on work with time series forecasting, to join our Digital Twin team.
About the project: The role focuses on building and improving forecasting solutions for key business metrics (such as revenue, orders, and customers) to support planning and decision-making.
A critical part of this role is understanding and explaining forecast behavior — identifying the key drivers behind changes in the forecast, analyzing deviations between plan and actuals, and translating model outputs into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders. The emphasis is not only on producing a forecast, but on clearly answering why the forecast changes and what drives those changes.
Nice-to-have experience includes forecast monitoring, anomaly detection, or scenario / what-if analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and evolve production-ready time series forecasting models for key business metrics (revenue, orders, customers) with rolling horizons and systematic backtesting.
- Design and apply robust forecast evaluation frameworks, ensuring forecast stability, accuracy, and comparability over time.
- Analyze and explain forecast drivers and changes, identifying the underlying factors behind forecast updates and deviations between plan and actuals.
- Perform plan vs. actual analysis to identify root causes of underperformance and support corrective actions.
- Translate forecasting outputs into clear, actionable insights that support planning and decision-making for business and product stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Analysts, and Business teams to align forecasts with assumptions, initiatives, and planning cycles.
- Contribute to the development of forecast monitoring, anomaly detection, and scenario / what-if analysis capabilities
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in a Data Science role.
- Hands-on experience working with time series data is required, including building, evaluating, and maintaining forecasting models.
- Practical experience using different modeling approaches for time series forecasting and understanding their trade-offs.
- Solid understanding of time series cross-validation and the use of external regressors.
- Experience designing data validation checks, including validation of input data and consistency checks for forecast results.
- Understanding of forecast explainability concepts, including how to identify and communicate key drivers behind forecast changes (hands-on experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with what-if / scenario modeling principles, including assessing the impact of assumptions, initiatives, or external factors on forecasts.
- Experience working with large, multi-source datasets, with an understanding of data quality risks in forecasting pipelines.
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher
