Position Overview
DSN is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a federal government engineering team supporting the delivery and operation of mission-critical software systems. This role is best suited to a seasoned DevOps professional with 6+ years of experience who can operate with a high degree of autonomy and provide technical leadership within a federal engineering environment. Due to the sensitive nature of the program, specific project and mission details are shared with candidates as they progress through the interview process.

The role also partners closely with manual QA testers to ensure release quality and stability. This is a fully remote position; candidates must be able to work core hours aligned to U.S. Eastern Time.
Responsibilities

• Partner directly with full stack developers and manual QA testers to define and improve release engineering practices
• Drive system reliability, performance monitoring, and security posture across environments
• Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex infrastructure and deployment issues
• Own compliance efforts related to applicable federal security and configuration management requirements
• Mentor mid-level and junior DevOps engineers
• Lead incident response efforts and participate in on-call rotation
• Establish and maintain documentation standards for pipelines, infrastructure, and operational procedures
Requirements
• 6+ years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure automation role
• Proven track record designing and owning CI/CD pipeline architecture (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar)
• Advanced experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools
• Strong hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Advanced scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
• Deep understanding of version control workflows and branching strategies (Git)
• Experience architecting solutions across cloud, on-premises, or hybrid environments
• Prior experience supporting federal government or defense-related programs strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of federal security and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, RMF, ATO processes)
• An active or prior security clearance is not required, but is a plus
• Demonstrated experience mentoring or leading junior/mid-level engineers
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to meet client eligibility requirements for a federal engagement
• Must be available to work core hours aligned to U.S. Eastern Time
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience is preferred but not required.
