Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-driven Quality Coordinator to join our Natural Resources – Geochemistry team based in Orange, with regular travel to West Wyalong. This is a great opportunity for an experienced laboratory quality professional who enjoys building robust quality systems, supporting technical operations, and helping teams deliver accurate, reliable results.

About the role

Reporting to the National Quality Manager you will take local ownership of the laboratory quality system and play a key role in ensuring compliance with SGS procedures, ISO 9001 requirements and, where applicable, ISO 17025 standards.

You will work closely with laboratory and operational teams to maintain calibration schedules, coordinate audits, monitor quality performance, support method validation and drive a strong quality and safety culture across the site.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support the laboratory quality system, ensuring compliance with SGS quality procedures, ISO 9001 and applicable ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct internal audits, including G6 LIMS audits, and support external audit preparation and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor laboratory quality performance, manage non-conformances and support corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain quality protocols, method validation records, calibration schedules and relevant quality documentation.
  • Provide practical and theoretical quality training to staff, helping embed best practice across the laboratory.
  • Support Health, Safety and Environment initiatives, including local safety programs, KPIs and SGS corporate initiatives.
  • Partner with operational teams to ensure data quality, technical standards and continuous improvement objectives are met.

Qualifications

About you

You are a proactive and organised quality professional with strong laboratory experience and a practical understanding of QA/QC processes. You enjoy working with people, solving problems and improving systems while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance.

  • Previous experience in a similar laboratory quality, QA/QC or compliance role.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems, QHSE practices and chemical processes.
  • Operational knowledge of ISO 9001 systems, with ISO 17025 experience highly regarded.
  • Experience supporting audits, non-conformance management, corrective actions and method validation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Intermediate computer literacy and confidence working with quality systems and documentation.
