Job Description: The Data Operations Associate is a key member of Pathstone’s centralized Data Operations team and plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of firmwide data used across client reporting, investment operations, compliance, billing, onboarding, and other core business processes. This role sits at the intersection of data, operations, and technology. The team combines scalable processes, modern data platforms, automation, and strong operational judgment to improve decision-making, reduce risk, and drive efficiency across the organization.
In this role, you will:
- Support data quality processes across aggregation, governance, validation, and reconciliation workflows, including coordination with external data aggregation service providers and internal data platforms.
- Maintain and integrate data across internal business groups and operational processes, including billing, compliance, client reporting, investment research data management, and client onboarding.
- Support efforts to streamline, standardize, and automate data operational processes through better tooling, process design, data enrichment, and analysis.
- Support data systems implementation and analytics work (e.g. Monte Carlo simulations, Power BI) in collaboration with other business groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize assigned tasks and manage workload to meet established deadlines and team expectations.
- Collect, validate, maintain, and reconcile large volumes of financial and operational data across systems and asset classes.
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing data validation rules, controls, and frameworks to improve data quality, integrity, and auditability.
- Collaborate with data aggregation service provider to ensure accurate client reporting across various asset classes.
- Support data- and database-related initiatives that improve quality, efficiency, transparency, and scalability.
- Perform daily and recurring data workflows, including automated data capture, exception handling, validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
- Use data extraction, transformation, and automation tools as directed to improve throughput, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls.
- Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues, respond to internal inquiries, and provide high-quality operational support to business partners across the firm.
- Build knowledge of key data platforms, workflows, and operating procedures across the firm, including platforms such as Addepar, FactSet, Salesforce, and related systems.
- Use analytical tools to identify trends and exceptions and share findings with internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Information Technology, or Data Science.
- Basic to intermediate SQL knowledge.
- Possess a basic knowledge of financial markets and reporting.
- Enjoy working with large amounts of data, complex problem-solving as it relates to data and operations, and working in a team-oriented culture built on collaboration.
- Possess a keen interest in data management, operations, and technology.
- Enjoy tackling complex, multi-dimensional problems and coming up with actionable solutions.
- Are adept at balancing a strong process orientation with a willingness to “think outside of the box” in identifying creative solutions as it pertains to data and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrate a strong ability to multi-task and balance time-sensitive priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred:
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of other programming languages (R, Python, VBA, etc.).
- 1 – 2 years of private fund administration, financial reporting, and/or data operations experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel skills.
- Experience using Power BI or similar data visualization applications.
- Experience using Salesforce.
Pay Transparency: Pathstone’s expected starting base compensation range for the position as of the time of this posting is $75,000 - $90,000 per year. The actual base compensation selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) experience, education, specialty and training. The successful candidate(s) may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus award.
