Technical Team Lead - Core Infrastructure Services
Orion Health
Posted 2 days ago
We’re looking for a hands-on and technical Team Lead to join our Core Infrastructure Services (CISS) team.
The CISS team builds, owns, and runs infrastructure services used by engineering teams across Orion Health, with a strong focus on AWS, automation, reliability, CI/CD, observability, and clean, maintainable infrastructure.
This is a technical leadership role for someone who enjoys leading a small team while staying hands-on with the engineering work. You’ll help guide technical direction, support delivery, mentor engineers, and contribute directly to the design, build, operation, and improvement of Orion Health’s cloud infrastructure services.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll lead a small technical team responsible for building and operating foundational infrastructure services used across Orion Health.
You will:
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across AWS, cloud infrastructure, automation, reliability, and platform services.
- Lead, support, and mentor engineers within the CIS team.
- Design, build, scale, and improve cloud infrastructure services in AWS.
- Set technical direction and guide architecture for infrastructure services, tooling, CI/CD, and cloud platforms.
- Lead delivery, manage technical risk, and make sound engineering decisions with minimal oversight.
- Own systems end-to-end, including operational support and participation in the team’s on-call model where required.
- Improve how engineering teams across Orion Health ship, deploy, monitor, and operate their software.
- Promote strong DevOps, continuous delivery, security, documentation, and “build it, run it, own it” practices.
Requirements
About You
You are an experienced technical leader or senior engineer ready to step into a broader leadership role. You bring strong cloud infrastructure experience, sound engineering judgement, and the ability to guide others while still contributing directly to the work.
You will bring:
- Strong experience designing, building, and operating cloud infrastructure in AWS.
- A background in Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, or senior software engineering with a strong infrastructure focus.
- Experience leading technical delivery and setting direction for projects or services.
- Experience supporting, coaching, or mentoring engineers.
- Strong programming or scripting capability using languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, Bash, or similar.
- Solid knowledge of Linux, networking, systems design, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and incident response.
- A collaborative working style, with the ability to influence across teams and work well with ambiguity.
Tech You’ll Use
You don’t need to tick every box, but experience across a number of the following would be valuable:
- AWS , including EC2, ECS, and CloudFormation.
- Python, Ruby, Go, Bash, or similar.
- Gitlab, GitOps workflows, or similar CI/CD tooling.
- Kubernetes and Ansible.
- Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, or similar monitoring and observability tools.
- Linux, networking, distributed systems, internal tooling, automation, and platform services.
