We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Specialist / Consultant Neonatologist to join a leading healthcare facility in Oman. The successful candidate will provide specialized medical care for premature, critically ill, and newborn infants, ensuring the highest standards of neonatal care through evidence-based clinical practice and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage medical conditions affecting newborns, including premature and critically ill infants.
- Provide comprehensive care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), and newborn nursery.
- Attend high-risk deliveries and provide immediate neonatal resuscitation and stabilization.
- Perform neonatal procedures, including intubation, umbilical catheterization, lumbar puncture, and exchange transfusion, as required.
- Monitor and manage ventilated neonates and critically ill newborns.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care.
- Counsel and educate parents regarding neonatal conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and clinical documentation.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality meetings, and continuing medical education (CME).
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and Oman Ministry of Health regulations.
- Participate in on-call duties and emergency neonatal coverage as per hospital requirements.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- MD, DNB, Arab Board, MRCPCH, Fellowship in Neonatology, or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification.
- Eligibility for or possession of a valid Oman Ministry of Health (MoH) license.
- Minimum 5–8 years of post-specialization experience in Neonatology, preferably in a tertiary care hospital with NICU experience.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is preferred.
- Strong clinical, diagnostic, and critical care skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to providing safe, evidence-based, family-centered neonatal care.
