Investment Management’s Global Risk & Analysis department has an open position for a Non-Financial Risk professional at the analyst level based in New York or London. The position will report into an Executive Director in Risk and will interface with business partners in both the private and public sides of the business.
Responsibilities:
Support the automation, standardization, and enhancement of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) reporting and analytics processes to improve the quality, consistency, transparency, and timeliness of risk information.
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of AI-enabled tools and chatbot capabilities that provide risk teams with self-service access to risk data, reporting, thematic analysis, trend identification, and management information across multiple risk domains.
Participate in risk- and issue-driven process reviews and deep-dive assessments to identify root causes, evaluate process and control effectiveness, assess risk exposures, and recommend sustainable remediation strategies and control enhancements.
Assess end-to-end operational processes for risk and control gaps, identifying opportunities to strengthen governance, improve control design, and leverage automation and artificial intelligence to reduce manual process vulnerabilities.
Partner with stakeholders across Risk, Operations, Technology, Product Management, and Compliance to design, implement, and refine solutions that enhance control effectiveness, mitigate process risk, and drive operational resilience.
Support the execution and maintenance of NFR assessments, including risk identification, control evaluation, issue management, action plan tracking, and documentation within Morgan Stanley risk management systems.
Assist in the development and maintenance of process, risk, and control frameworks, including the creation of process inventories, risk taxonomies, control libraries, governance documentation, and implementation roadmaps.
Develop and maintain process maps, flowcharts, risk and control documentation, and management reporting to support risk assessments, process reviews, audit activity, and regulatory expectations.
Analyze risk data, incidents, issues, and control information to identify emerging themes, trends, and potential areas of heightened operational risk requiring management attention.
Support strategic initiatives focused on process optimization, risk reduction, control modernization, and the integration of data analytics and AI capabilities into the risk management framework.
Contribute to special projects and other risk management, process improvement, and governance activities as assigned.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, finance, economics or other disciplines demonstrating both quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
Knowledge of artificial intelligence and automation tools
Experience identifying process improvement opportunities using AI
Ability to evaluate, implement, and optimize AI-enabled workflows
Familiarity with data analysis, workflow automation, and responsible AI use
Strong project management, organization and time management skills
Strong and effective verbal & written communication skills
Good analytical and technical skills including proficiency with Excel, Visio, and other end user computing tools, process mapping experience a plus.
Financial services experience is a plus.
Some experience in business analysis or data analysis, process improvements, internal audit, regulatory projects, cyber & information security or technology integration is a plus
