Job Description
What will you do...
Senior Finance Specialist supports financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance within the organization. This role provides strategic financial insights to support business decisions, ensures adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements, and drives process improvements that enhance financial accuracy, efficiency, and operational effectiveness. The position requires strong financial management expertise, analytical capability, and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
Job Duties:
- Record journal entries, bank transactions, and other financial activities in the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and timely reconciliation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP, and local regulations).
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and related supporting schedules.
- Monitor departmental expenditures and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
- Identify and implement cost-saving and process efficiency initiatives.
- Contribute financial expertise to cross-functional projects and business initiatives.
- Support the continuous improvement of financial processes, controls, and reporting systems.
- Assist with tax compliance, including VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, payroll taxes, and other statutory obligations.
- Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure ongoing organizational compliance.
- Prepare audit schedules and support documentation for internal and external audits.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What you bring...
- BSc or HND in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required.
- ICAN certification, completed or in progress, is required.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Prior experience in a senior or supervisory role is preferred.
- Experience in managing tax-related matters and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with accounting systems.
- Knowledge of accounting standards, including IFRS and GAAP.
- Tax and regulatory compliance knowledge.
- Strong presentation and reporting skills.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
