Overview
The Newark, NJ office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys handling a high-volume caseload on behalf of insurers and their insureds. This role suits a detail-driven professional who can proactively manage assignments with some autonomy. Ability to effectively communicate with team and with court personnel, third-party vendors and keep complex matters organized from first notice through resolution.

Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and proofread pleadings, discovery materials, motions, and legal correspondence
- Manage large volumes of records, documents, evidence, and exhibits with accuracy and organization
- Review, analyze, and summarize various records; prepare timelines and chronologies
- Support deposition, hearing, and trial preparation, including trial binders, exhibit lists, and witness coordination
- Maintain litigation calendars, deadlines, and case progress tracking
- Request various records and management of updates and tracking
- Communicate effectively with clients, experts, providers, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Coordinate expert retention, discovery schedules, and document production
- Work in collaboration with internal and external eDiscovery teams to assist in eDiscovery activities
- Conduct factual research and assist attorneys with case development
- Perform occasional administrative tasks as part of a collaborative litigation support environment
- Adhere to carrier billing guidelines and litigation / matter reporting requirements
- Cite checking court filings
- E-filing (state and federal) experience NY/NJ preferred
- Maintain accurate records in the firm’s matter management and document systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate. A certificate may be required based on region, state, or client requirements
- 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience, with insurance defense experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with carrier reporting, litigation guidelines, and e-billing platforms
- Working knowledge of state and federal court rules and e-filing procedures
- Experience with eDiscovery platforms (e.g., Relativity) and document management systems such as iManage
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple files
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- Adaptability and collaborative approach to work
- This position has an annual billable requirement of 1,600 hours
