Negotiating Remote Comp Across Timezones
Global comp bands, location adjustments, and the three numbers you need before the offer call.
By Jobr Team•Updated March 7, 2026
Remote comp negotiation is different from on-site. Location adjustments, currency volatility, and benefit parity are all on the table. You need three numbers before you take the call.
The three numbers
- The company's published US band for the level (if transparent).
- Your target local net, translated to USD equivalent.
- Your walk-away floor — below which you politely decline.
What to push on
- Base salary first — it anchors everything else.
- Equity grant refresh cadence — not just the starting grant.
- Home office stipend and co-working allowance.
- Written tax equalization if you might relocate.
